The River Dart
At the head of Dart Estuary you'll find the magnificent defensive fortifications of Dartmouth Castle, an English Heritage site. The River Dart is one of the most spectacular estuaries in the British Isles, in terms of scenic beauty, natural wildlife and also historic interest.

Dartmouth is renowned as a holiday centre and is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty with superb scenery, blue-flag beaches and the magnificent River Dart with the Paignton to Dartmouth Steam Railway running along the river bank.
Beaches of the South Hams
